Major Railway Projects Inaugurated by Minister Suresh Prabhu in Kerala

• Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu inaugurated six major Railway projects in Kerala including the dedication of the newly-built 9.6-km long Tiruvalla-Chengannur double line which would ease the heavy rail traffic congestion in the Ernakulam-Kottayam-Kayamkulam section.
• 
  
• Prabhu also inaugurated infrastructure facilities at Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram railways stations through video conferencing from Kozhikode.
• 
  
• A new platform was launched at Palakkad station, high-speed public WiFi service was made available at Thrissur station.
• 
  
• The minister also launched an escalator each in Thrissur and Thriruvananthapurtam stations besides laying foundation stone for the extension of Foot Overbridge at Kozhikode railway station.
• 
  
• Now the number of free wi-Fi enabled railway stations in the state has increasd to five.The service was launched earlier in Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kozhikode stations. 

Mission Bhagiratha

Introduction:

Mission Bhagiratha, a new initiative started by the state government of Telangana to provide safe drinking water to everyone in the State through dedicated water pipeline channels in the state. To confederate the mission, The state government has designed a water grid project to provide a sustainable and durable solution to the problem of safe drinking water. 

The Main objective of this Mission “Bhagiratha” is to provide 100 litres & 150 litres of clean drinking water per person in rural households and in urban households respectively. The Final deadline for the completion of the water grid project is March 2018.

Introduction

The Odisha Government launched a new scheme named “Baristha Bunakar Sahayata Yojana” for those weavers, who have become aged on 7th August, 2016. This scheme was launched by Odisha Chief Minister Mr. Naveen Patnaik. This day (7th August, 2016) was declaring National Handloom Day for our country. NPA and SARFAESI Act 2002

Non-performing Assets (NPAs)

Non-Performing Assets are loans given by a Bank or financial intuitions where the borrower defaults or delays interest or principal payments.

According to RBI, any loan repayment which is delayed beyond 90 days in continuation has to be identified as an NPA.
 

NPA’s are further sub classified into

• Sub-Standard Assets are those which are non-performing for a period not exceeding two years.
• Doubtful Assets are those loans which have remained non-performing for a period exceeding two years but which are not considered as loss assets.
• Loss Assets is one where loss has been identified but the amount has not been written off, wholly or partly. In other words, such as asset is considered non-recoverable.

KVGB Launches Bank Sakhi Yojna

• The Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank (KVGB) has come out with an innovative method of employing women in villages. 
• Bank chairman S. Ravindran said that the bank would appoint women business correspondents called “Bank Sakhi” in select villages where this scheme would be implemented. 
• To start with, the bank had hired 11 “Bank Sakhis” and had plans to appoint a minimum of 50 such women in different districts, he said.
• It would be possible to ensure greater participation in financial inclusion by engaging women in villages. A “Bank Sakhi” is someone who has been a member of a self-help group involved in conducting banking and book-keeping activities of the group.

Banking Regulation Act, 1949
1. The Banking Regulation Act Came into force with effective from 16th March 1949.
2. Initially it was named as “Banking Companies Act, 1949”, but latter the name was changed to Banking Regulation Act 1949 from 1st March 1966.

3. This Act Provides safety in the interest of depositors.
4. This Act forbids the misuse of powers by Higher Authorities/ Staffs / Banking employees etc.

SARFAESI Act, 2002
1. Full form of SARFAESI – Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002.
2. This SARFAESI ACT, 2002 acts as a tool to recover the debt, bad loans i.e. NPA (Non-Performing Assets).
3. According to this ACT bank has the power to seize the securities of Loan Defaulters (Except Agricultural Land) without intervention of court.
4. This Act also giver power of “Seize & Desist” to all banks in India.

SSC CGL Tier-II Re-exam Notice 2016

Dear Students,
This notice is regarding Re-Exam of SSC CGL Tier-II 2016.

The Commission has received representations from some of the candidates alleging that they faced technical and other related problems during the examination at some of the venues. The Commission is having the representations received upto 9th December 2016, objectively and comprehensively examined through the Technical Service Provider. This process will be completed soon. Those candidates, whose grievances are found to be genuine, would be intimated for re-examination. The Commission has decided to conduct re-examination for such affected candidates tentatively on 12-13 January 2017.

1) केंद्र सरकार ने Indus Water Treaty के लिए एक Inter Ministerial Task Force का गठन किया।
इस समझौते के अनुसार भारत पाकिस्तान को इंडस नदी से पानी देता है और इस पानी में रोक लगाना चाहता है।
लेकिन विश्व बैंक के भारत के इस फैसले पर रोक लगा दी है।

2) प्यूर्टो रीको की स्टेफनी डेल वेल्ले ने विश्व सुंदरी 2016 का ख़िताब जीता।
इन्हें पूर्व विश्व सुंदरी स्पेन की मारिया लालगुना ने ताज पहनाया।
डोमिनिकन गणराज्य की यारिट्ज़ मिगुएलिन दूसरे स्थान पर रही।
मिस इंडिया प्रीयदर्शनी चटर्जी ने टॉप 20 में जगह बनाई।

3) योजना आयोग की पूर्व सदस्य सुमित्रा चौधरी का निधन हुआ।

●World AIDS Day is observed across the world on 1st December annually. The theme for 2016 World Aids Day is ‘Hands Up for HIV Prevention’.

·       The autobiography of India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar “Playing it my way” has won the prestigious Crossword Book of the Year Award in the Autobiography category. It is penned by renowned cricket historian and Tendulkar’s close friend Boria Majumdar.

·       NITI Aayog constituted a 13-member committee to promote cashless economy. The committee will be headed by Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu.

·       Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurates the 55,000-tonne per annum (TPA) Odisha ferro-chrome plant set up by Tata Steel at a cost of Rs 542 crore in its Gopalpur Industrial Park in Ganjam district.

भारत ने यह ख़िताब दूसरी बार जीता है।
इससे पूर्व यह ख़िताब 15 साल पहले जीता था।

2) भारतीय रक्षा मंत्री मनोहर पर्रिकर ने नए थल और जल सेना प्रमुख के नाम घोषित किये।
लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल बिपिन रावत नये थल सेना प्रमुख होंगे, ये जनरल दलबीर सिंह सुहाग की जगह लेंगे।
उपवायु सेना प्रमुख बी एस धनोवा नये वायु सेना प्रमुख होंगे, ये एयर मार्शल अरूप राहा की जगह लेंगे।

3) हिमांचल प्रदेश भारत में 100 प्रतिशत आधार कार्ड वितरित करने वाला 6वा राज्य बना।
इससे पूर्व दिल्ली, तेलंगाना, हरयाणा, पंजाब और चंडीगढ़ ऐसा करने वाले राज्य बन चुके हैं।

2) भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी स्मृति मंधाना को ICC Women's Team of The Year 2016 का ख़िताब दिया गया।
उन्हें International Cricket Council द्वारा नामित किया गया।

3) केंद्रीय मंत्रालय ने पूर्व सुचना प्रसारण सचिव सुनील अरोड़ा को Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs का डॉयरेक्टर जनरल और सीईओ नियुक्त किया।
