Benami Transactions Informants Reward Scheme

• New Benami Transactions Informants Reward Scheme, 2018 launched by the Income Tax Department 
• To get people’s participation in the Income Tax Department’s efforts to unearth black money and to reduce tax evasion 
• With the objective of obtaining people’s participation in the Income Tax Department’s efforts to unearth black money and to reduce tax evasion, a new reward scheme titled “Benami Transactions Informants Reward Scheme, 2018”, has been issued by the Income Tax Department. 
• Under the Benami Transactions Informants Reward Scheme, 2018, a person can get reward up to Rs. One crore for giving specific information in prescribed manner to the Joint or Additional Commissioners of Benami Prohibition Units (BPUs) in Investigation Directorates of Income Tax Department about benami transactions and properties as well as proceeds from such properties which are actionable under Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988, as amended by Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016.

• ➤Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed state-owned oil companies to borrow long-term working capital from overseas up to 10 billion US dollar.
• ➤Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), had launched Udyam Abhilasha, a National Level Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign, in 115 Aspirational Districts identified by NITI Aayog.
• ➤State Bank of India has slashed the daily withdrawal limit on its classic debit card from Rs 40,000 to Rs 20,000 effective from October 31st 2018.

•The Chinese traveler Fahien, who visited India during the reign of Chandragupta II, has left a valuable account of the social, economic and religious conditions of the Gupta empire.
•Apart from these literary sources, there are inscriptions like the Meherauli Iron Pillar Inscription and the Allahabad Pillar inscription.
•The coins issued by Gupta kings contain legends and figures. These coins provide interesting details about the titles and sacrifices performed by the Gupta monarchs.

• In 305 B.C., he marched against Selukas Niketar, who was Alexander’s General controlling the northwestern India.

Nobel Prize in Medicine:

The Nobel Medicine or Physiology Prize has been awarded to James P Allison and Tasaku Honjo “for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation.”. This is for the first time that no Literature Prize will be given in 70 years because of a #MeToo scandal. 

The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded by the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. 

Nobel Prize in Physics:

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to Award the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics to Arthur Ashkin, Gérard Mourou and Donna Strickland "for groundbreaking inventions in the field of laser physics". 

Swacch Sarvekshan Grameen Awards 2018

Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave awards to top Ranked State, District and State with maximum citizen participation based on the National Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 commissioned by Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. 

The awards by Prime Minister were given at the concluding session of Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitation Convention at Rahtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. Haryana was ranked as the best State while Satara District of Maharashtra was ranked as the best district as per the ranking undertaken by Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018.

Banking and Financial Awareness:

• ➤For failing to stick to shareholding rules, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) barred Bandhan Bank from opening new branches and also ordered the freezing of the bank's CEO salary.
• ➤A Mobile app called Jan Dhan Darshak has been developed by the Ministry of Finance and National Informatics Centre (NIC), as a part of financial inclusion (FI) initiative.
• ➤BRICS' New Development Bank has approved a $525-million loan for infrastructure projects in India.
• ➤To boost employment in Madhya Pradesh, Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved a $150 million loan to establish the first multi-skills park.
• ➤Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved financing of up to $500 million for a multi-tranche financing facility (MFF) infrastructure project in at least 10 cities of Tamil Nadu.
• ➤To collaborate on creating a dual listing route for masala bonds and foreign currency bonds of Indian issuers, National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and London Stock Exchange (LSE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
